A demo is a consistency problem
When you give a video model one photo of your product, you have described one angle of it. Everything the clip shows from any other angle is the model's best guess, and best guesses drift: a label moves, a cap changes shape, a colour shifts a few degrees. On a single 5 second render that can pass. Across a batch of fifteen renders meant to run as one campaign, it reads as fifteen different products.
More reference images narrow that gap by describing the object from several angles before the render starts. It is the closest thing this category has to handing the model your actual product.
So the first filter is not price or resolution. It is how many photos the model will take.
Reference slots, by model
Here is the number that does most of the work, alongside what each model costs and how long it can run.
Our pick: Happy Horse 1.1 for most product demos
Happy Horse 1.1 accepts an array of up to nine images, renders up to 15 seconds with native audio, and is the cheapest of the three multi-reference models. At 1080p it costs 180, 370 and 550 credits for 5, 10 and 15 seconds, roughly 37 credits a second, and its 720p tier is a genuine 22 to 24% cheaper at 140, 280 and 420.
The image array is what makes it work for demos. A single image behaves as a first frame. Two or more behave as references, so you can show the front of the pack, the back of the pack, and the product in a hand before asking for the shot you want. It also supports square framing alongside vertical and landscape, which matters when the same demo has to be cut for several placements.
What it is bad at: there is no 4K tier, so 1080p is the ceiling, and 15 seconds is the ceiling on length. Its dialogue is prompt-guided rather than verbatim, so if a voiceover has to state a specific claim you should be adding that audio yourself or using a voice-driven model for the spoken portion. And like every model in this tier, complex physical interactions are still a prompt-and-retry exercise rather than a guarantee.
When to move up to Kling 3.0 or Seedance 2.0
Two reasons justify the extra credits, and only two.
The first is 4K. Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.0 are the only models on the platform with a 4K tier. For a demo that will be cropped for multiple placements, punched into on the product, or reused beyond paid social, that headroom is the thing you are buying. Kling 3.0 is the cheaper route to it at about 78 credits a second against Seedance 2.0's 132, though Seedance's 4K premium over its own 1080p is only about twice rather than the four times the pixel count suggests.
The second is Seedance 2.0's reference behaviour specifically. When you supply two or more images to Seedance 2.0 they act purely as references, with no image locked as the first frame. Kling 3.0 always treats your first image as the literal opening frame and the rest as supporting references. If you want the model free to open on any angle while still keeping your product consistent, Seedance 2.0 is the only one of the three that allows it.
What they are bad at: cost, straightforwardly. A 15 second 1080p demo is 780 credits on Kling 3.0 and 950 on Seedance 2.0, against 550 on Happy Horse 1.1. On a $49 Starter plan with 5,000 credits that is 6 renders, 5 renders, or 9 renders respectively, and a demo concept usually takes more than one attempt.
The single-image models, and when they are enough
The sensible pattern is to sweep concepts on Grok Video or Seedance 1.5 Pro, where an attempt costs 70 to 245 credits, and only move the surviving concept onto a multi-reference model once you know which shot you want.
- Seedance 1.5 Pro: 12 seconds, 1080p, and about 20 credits a second, which is the cheapest 1080p second among the prompt-driven models. One reference image only, so best when your product is simple or when one hero photo genuinely describes it.
- Veo 3.1 Fast: 4, 6 or 8 seconds with 1080p included at the same price as 720p, at 120, 180 and 245 credits. Strong for a short product beat, but it caps at 8 seconds, takes one image, and does not render true square.
- Kling 2.6: 5 or 10 seconds at 125 and 260 credits, with 720p and 1080p priced the same. Our picker files it under b-roll and scenes, which is exactly right for demo cutaways destined to sit under a voiceover you already have. One reference image only.
- Grok Video: 5 or 10 seconds, 720p ceiling, 70 and 140 credits at 720p. The cheapest way to test whether a demo concept is worth rendering properly, and the wrong place to finish one.
Models to skip for demos
OmniHuman 1.5, VEED Fabric 1.0 and Pruna Avatar are all voice-driven avatar models. They take a still photo of a person plus an audio track and animate that person speaking. There is no mechanism in any of them for moving an object through a scene, changing the camera, or showing a product being used, because the render is a performance of audio rather than a generated scene.
They remain the right tools for the talking part of a demo ad, which is a real use: a person explaining the product, cut against demo footage rendered on a multi-reference model. That is two renders on one credit balance rather than a compromise on one.
Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro are absent from this ranking on purpose. OpenAI is retiring both on 24 September 2026, so anchoring a demo workflow to them now means rebuilding it within weeks.
Cost math for a demo batch
Assume a realistic demo project: six concept sweeps, then three refined renders, then one final deliverable.
Run the sweeps on Grok Video at 720p for 5 seconds and that is 6 renders at 70 credits, so 420 credits. Run the three refined passes on Happy Horse 1.1 at 1080p for 10 seconds and that is 3 at 370, so 1,110 credits. Finish on Kling 3.0 at 1080p for 15 seconds at 780 credits. Total: 2,310 credits, well inside a single $49 Starter month of 5,000 credits, with room left for a second project.
Push the final deliverable to 4K on Kling 3.0 and it becomes 1,170 credits instead of 780, taking the project to 2,700. Push it to 4K on Seedance 2.0 and it is 1,985, taking the project to 3,515. That is the actual price of the resolution decision, expressed in the only unit that matters here.

Verdict: start with the reference count, end with the resolution
If your product needs more than one photo to describe, you have three models to choose from and the cheapest of them, Happy Horse 1.1, is the right default for most demos.
Move to Kling 3.0 when you want 4K without Seedance 2.0's per-second cost, and to Seedance 2.0 when you want reference images that do not force one photo to be the opening frame.
Use the single-image models for everything upstream of that, because concept sweeps should be cheap and there is no reason to pay 63 credits a second to find out an idea does not work.
