That does not make Veo a worse model. Plenty of paid social creative is built out of 4 to 8 second beats, and a montage of three Veo clips is a perfectly normal way to make a 20 second ad. Its pricing has an unusual property worth knowing: 720p and 1080p cost exactly the same number of credits. 120 credits at 4 seconds, 180 at 6, 245 at 8, whichever resolution you pick. There is no reason to ever render Veo at 720p, which effectively makes it a 1080p-only model priced at roughly 30 credits a second.
Its aspect ratio support is narrower than most of the catalogue: portrait and landscape only. A 1:1 square request falls back rather than rendering square, so Veo is not the model to reach for when the placement demands a true square file.
It also takes a single reference image. One photo, one anchor.
What Happy Horse 1.1 is: 15 seconds and nine reference slots
Happy Horse 1.1 is Alibaba's 1.1 refresh, and on UGC Vids AI it is the workhorse of the prompt-driven tier. It renders 5, 10 or 15 seconds with native audio, and it accepts an array of up to nine images.
That image array is more flexible than it first sounds. One image behaves like a normal first frame animation. Two through nine behave as references, which is how you show the model your product from several angles, or the same face in several lighting conditions, before it renders.
Its resolution tiers are real, unlike Veo's. 720p costs 140, 280 and 420 credits for 5, 10 and 15 seconds. 1080p costs 180, 370 and 550. Choosing 720p genuinely saves you 22 to 24%, so if the clip is destined for a feed placement that will be compressed anyway, that is a live lever rather than a fake one.
It supports vertical, landscape and square framing, which matters if you are cutting the same concept for placements with different aspect requirements.
Three things Veo 3.1 cannot do here
None of these are quality complaints. They are shape constraints, and shape constraints are usually what actually blocks a piece of creative. A model that produces a beautiful 8 second clip is still the wrong model when the brief says 12 seconds and square.
